In 1976, Master E.Edward
obtained the Middle Heavy Weight title in Singapore National
Pugilistic Championship. Besides training in other martial arts, he
continued training in Indian Martial Arts with his father and uncle.
With much support and encouragement in 1985, he was able to set up
Kalari-Payat Silambam Centre in Singapore.
Since he showed special
interest in Indian Martial Arts and which culminated in a visit to
India, there he trained under Master Gopalakrishnan, Master Tilark,
his uncle Doraisamy Nadar, and Gurrukal and Marama Assan Ebenezer
Dharmaraj Nadar. He also trained under the famous Silambam expert
and author, Dr. David Manual Raj.
Master E.Edward returned
to Singapore as a qualified Indian Martial Arts Instructor and he
was eventually able to obtain a recognition for Indian Martial Arts
in general and formal endorsement from Martial Arts Control Unit and
Ministry of Home Affairs to teach Kalari-Payat, Silambam, Madpure,
Maduvoo, Kyttuvarusai, Kuntham, Kattaram, Vaalu/Palisa, Urumi,

Since then Kalari-Payat
has become a recognized Martial Arts inline with other Ethnic
Arts.
Today, Master E.Edward
and his students are very much in demand for displays during
national gatherings. The most important is that they scored success
in MArtial Arts contest in Singapore despite their small number
comparative to other Arts.
Students from Indian
Martial Arts participated in the 2nd World Kyushu All Styles martial
Arts Championship on 10th & 11th November 2006 in Singapore and
won 1-Gold, 1-Silver, and a bronze.
Several instructor have
been trained and are ready to carry on the task of teaching the
basic skills while this allowed master Edward to have more time to
devote to other important task such as securing greater recognition
for Kalari-Payat & Silambam Indian Martial Arts in
Singapore.
Master E.Edward has also
established links with Kalari-Payat and Silambam Organizations in
South India, Malaysia and has also promoted the Arts in North
America. He is also looking forward to promote the Arts in Australia
and U.K.
